HYPOCHLOROUS ACID

Hypochlorous Acid, an Amazing Antimicrobial

Hypochlorous Acid or HOCl is an all-natural antimicrobial that helps to soothe skin irritations and rapidly heal wounds, scrapes, cuts, and burns.

Hypochlorous Acid

Hypochlorous Acid is an all-natural antimicrobial agent that is produced by mammals’ white blood cells to fight bacteria, viruses, and inflammation after an infection or wound occurs.[2] HOCl provides the particular ability to annihilate microorganisms such as bacteria and viruses but also complements mammals’ cells without harming them, thus enhancing its natural ability to heal and provide wound management.

Safe to Use, Powerful Effects

Hypochlorous acid is a gentle antibacterial that is non-toxic, non-irritating, steroid and antibiotic free. Once hypochlorous acid lands on a surface, it reacts with any germs or organic matter on that surface, killing the bacteria and viruses and then immediately deactivates. This allows for sanitation without requiring rinsing. It’s powerful healing effect does not sting or irritate the skin, and is safe for use around the mouth, nose, eyes, and ears. Even if it were accidentally licked or ingested, it is completely harmless. Clireon™Wound and Skin Care can be used to cleanse, irrigate, debride, and moisturize wounds for advantageous healing conditions, minimizing the risk of complications.

Viruses & Bacteria Kill-Time Testing

Kills Bacteria and Viruses

Using Hypochlorous Acid (HOCl) for wound care helps prevent infection caused by viruses and bacteria. Common bacteria found on animals, especially livestock, include Escherichia coli and Salmonella Infantis, are killed within 30 seconds by hypochlorous acid.[1] HOCl moves quickly and is able to oxidize bacteria in a matter of seconds by easily penetrating the walls of the bacteria.[3] HOCl oxidizes the cell walls, killing the bacteria, or enters through the cell walls, destroying the vital components inside the bacteria.[3] An imbalance of microorganisms within the biofilm (which is similar to a force field that helps protect viruses and bacteria) can lead to inflammation and potential for infection. HOCl is also effective at degrading biofilm to reduce bacterial growth on the skin.[3]

Itch and Inflammation

Pruritus (chronic itching), is the most common dermatologic problem in both small and large animals, and can cause red, inflamed areas of skin, which may lead to bacterial infections. Pruritus is a clinical sign and not a diagnosis or specific disease. In general, the most common causes of pruritus are parasites, infections, allergic skin diseases, and miscellaneous causes (eg, cutaneous neoplasia). HOCl soothes skin irritations and helps to reduce pain and itch. HOCl is also especially effective in degrading biofilm and neutralizing inflammatory mediators in the body to reduce bacterial growth on the skin.[4]
